The broken garments selected were inspired by the artists canvas - light colours garments where the repair becomes what makes these classic ”basics” unique.
The repairs themselves were inspired by the idea of gifting your most used and loved garments with a medal in the form of a repair, for being such faithful companions.
The colours used are bright and optimistic, with associations to the industrial, which is balanced out by playful and often organic shapes.
The broken garments are carefully selected, and the repairs as designed as possible.
All the repairs are done by hand with a needle and thread. The two techniques used for this series of mended garments are the self named techniques called Island Weave (based on darning) and Edge Mend (embroidery).
The collection was exhibited at Håndverk+ in Oktober 2020, at Doga in Oslo.
